What has happened to the world of military wives these days? Gone is the day when military wives were there to support and love one another and in it's place is a day of hateful, immature, "I'm better because my husband has rank" women.
When my husband joined the Marine Corps, I thought that making friends at our new duty station would be so simple because in my head was the image on women being accepting of new comers, welcoming parties, and fun dinners. Boy was I wrong! Don't get me wrong, I have made a few friends while being here, but it has taken 2 years to do so!
I recently joined a few Facebook pages that are specifically for the wives at our duty station, MCAS Miramar. I don't go to the pages every day, but when I do venture over to see what all is going on, I see nothing but drama, hate, and immaturity. Our husband's are fighting the real war and we don't need to be starting our own small wars between each other back home. I'm pretty sure our husband's don't want to hear the drama. Bashing one another for posting that they miss their husbands when they are gone for the weekend
and others saying "Mine's deployed, get over it, it's just for the weekend". It doesn't matter if it's a weekend or 6 months, you would still miss you husband! Let the woman vent about missing her husband...nobody jumps all over you when you do it! What's even more sad is that most of these women have young children. In my opinion, these children need to be raised being taught to love one another and not to put people down for their views and opinions. Sometimes I wonder if parents are even teaching manners and respect for others these days. If you look at the major rise in bullying in our schools, I would say that most aren't.
Anyway, my point to this post is this...we as military wives need to learn to "Love thy neighbor" and realize that everyone has their own opinions, but in some aspect, we are all the same and need to learn to respect and be there for one another because we are the only ones who will understand what we go through on a daily basis.

As a mother, I try to do what's best for my child. I was unsuccessful with breast feeding, unfortunately, and I regret not trying harder. However, I am very proud of my choices to cloth diaper, not circumcise, and not vaccinate. Some people find my choices absolutely insane, but that's just it....they are MY choices.
Why do I choose to cloth diaper? Well, have you ever read what's in a disposable diaper? Chemicals GALORE! Cloth diapers provide a comfortable, chemical free, and oh so cute way to diaper your little love all naturally. It's also GREAT for the environment! Fun Fact: It takes 400 years for a disposable diaper to biodegrade in the landfill. That means the diapers that you wore as a baby are still out there somewhere. ICK!
Why did I choose not to get my son circumcised? It's a completely unnecessary cosmetic procedure. I know...you're thinking "It's easier to clean and prevents certain types of STD's.....WRONG! It's no harder to clean than a finger and definitely does not prevent STD's.
Why do I choose not to vaccinate my child? Vaccines weaken the immune system and the body's natural way of fighting of an illness. Have you ever read about what is exactly IN a vaccine? No? Just to name a few...Aluminum, Formaldehyde, Hydrochloric acid, Mercury, and some are even found to have tissues from aborted fetus'!

Just a little back story to my life thus far. I am 23 years old, wife to a U.S. Marine, and mother to a gorgeous little boy named Carter. I met my husband in July of 2009 and we were married in December 2009, 2 weeks before he left for boot camp for the Marine Corps. We were stationed in San Diego, CA in July 2010 and on April 29, 2011, we brought our little guy into the world. Our lives have been forever changed for the best!
Being a young married couple with a baby, not to mention being 2000 miles away from every family member and friend we know, has been tough, but I wouldn't change this life for anything. Sometimes I catch myself thinking that "the grass is greener on the other side", and then something reminds me that even if I were to get to the other side, the grass would turn brown and be greener on the side I came from.
I ran across a quote one day that stated "Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, It means that you've decided to look past the imperfections.". I fully agree that if everyone would realize that there is absolutely nobody in this world who is perfect or has a perfect life, we would all be happier with everything around us.
With this blog, I hope to inspire all who reads it to live life happily, no matter the imperfections. We only get one life to live, so don't waste it on trying to be "perfect" because there is no such thing.
